I am prepared to have this post categorized by some as controversial, however please read it as a social criticism coming from someone who has lived most of his life in urban environment, but then realized that LIFE actually begins as we depart from a city. I am not going to say, that the further you get the more you live as I am not leading such a life myself, neither do I advocate for living like a hermit. If you can see countless stars in the clear night sky – you are already in the right place.
Getting on the same bus Cheryl has just talked about, both physically and figuratively, I keep finding myself on a ride to artificity. It’s hard to tell where it exactly begins, as it already surrounds me on the bus – IPhones and other headsets cutting the listeners’ minds off the real world, synthetic perfumes, dyed hairs, tattoos, bright red shoelaces and so on, all signs of artificiality in rush to conform to an idealized urban life(less)style. And this is – of course – only magnified once I set my feet on the sidewalks of a town, its scale being proportionate to the size of the town.
It is the mindset I mind, not even the countless manifestations of the typical urban mentality – if I may call it that. The sad realization of the odd, often pathological behavior of people who chose to live virtual lives in pseudo environments lacking just about everything what is natural – take away sparrow chirping.
Is it just me (and my dear wife) anymore – I wonder sometimes – who considers these behavioral patterns, symbol systems to be – at best – totally unnecessary aberrations from what nature teaches us to follow, but more often outright aggressive violations of her benevolence?!
