Experiences shape our lives, they mold us into the individuals who we are. In this regard we are all unique in our abilities, viewpoints and philosophies of life, yet the fact remains that we all live together here on Earth and simply put – we would all like to live well.
We have enough of many things, but would like more of others…
It’s not only that we need more relationships, we need truer, honest ones.
We don’t need more food, we require more nutritious, locally grown, organically cared for foodstuffs.
We don’t need more brand name clothes to keep up with the status quo, we need the ones that fit our figures and our environmental ethics.
We don’t need more plastic, we need sound ecological solutions right now!
If it weren’t for our love of nature and concern for the healthy future of people, plants, animals and the land, we wouldn’t be here right now, neither would you. See, we got rid of our television more than eight years ago, it was the innocent start of one of the best things we have ever done.
It gave us the time to think for ourselves instead of engage in a one-way monologue, it gave us the freedom to embrace self-reliance, mostly it allowed us the time to pursue our passions.
Growing up in conventional households, Cheryl in the United States, Roland in Romania/Hungary, it took time for our paradigm shifts to emerge from the “norm” to something quite ecologically different. Cereal from the box, milk from the plastic bag or jug, ready made consumable items bought at the store filled our diets and homes. All the while homestyle traditions got passed down in adulterated form, like the raw milk carried home in aluminum can, only to be transferred in a cooking pot and boiled on the stove, the butter became margarine and the lard vegetable shortening.
Life is so much more than that!
For the last decade we have been radically simplifying our lives together:
- returning to a natural diet free of artificial colorings, preservatives, refined sugar or modern wheat
- discovering the many benefits of earthing
- converting to a handcrafted wardrobe informed by natural fibers and vernacular flair
- eliminating inferior materials from our lives in favor of compostable ones
- harvesting “nutrients” from the wild
- increasing our awareness and sensitivity to the interconnectedness of the world
The role of a sustainable life designer is to assist others on the path to a sustainable lifestyle, working through challenges as they arise, changing the way one thinks about and relates to the natural and unnatural world around them.
Deep down we all have a desire to live better, to cause no harm to the environment, to live as naturally as possible, because that is what is best for all of us.
As sustainable life designers we can help you transcend half answers and get to where we are faster, providing you with wisdom and inspiration along the way. Decrease that transition time so that you can start living a simple, healthy, gentle life today.
